Founded in 1981 in Natick, Massachusetts, Eastern Transit Products Corporation serves as a distributor of electrical and mechanical replacement components for the mass transit, railroad and mining industries.
Eastern Transit Products supplies renewal electrical parts for propulsion and braking control used worldwide in subway systems, rail locomotives and off-road mining vehicles.
Eastern Transit Products operates from Natick, Massachusetts, residing in the same location for nearly 40 years. A stocking distributor of the Hoyt Corporation, the leading manufacturer of electrical contacts and shunts, Eastern Transit Products can ship stock items the same day orders are received.
Bob Newton, President of Eastern Transit Products, founded Eastern Transit Products in 1981. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Bob had a comprehensive business career prior to founding Eastern Transit Products. As a sales engineer for Westinghouse Corporation, Bob worked in the field of mass transit propulsion, electrical power generation and distribution. His work at Westinghouse Corporation, as well as his experience working for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority in transit operations, served as Bob’s foundation for establishing and operating Eastern Transit Products.
Chris Newton, Vice President of Eastern Transit Products, is a graduate from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Chris started his professional career as a mechanical design engineer supporting the construction of nuclear submarines at Electric Boat, a subsidiary of General Dynamics. Prior to coming to Eastern Transit Products, Chris worked as a system engineer for Engineering Planning and Management, where he analyzed nuclear power plants to ensure safe shutdown conditions were met in the field of fire protection.
